Rahm Emanuel, Obama's chief of staff, was President Clinton's Senior Adviser. In 2000, President Clinton rewarded Emanuel for his years of loyal service by appointing him to the Board of Directors for Freddie Mac. Freddie Mac, which was created by Congress, is the country's biggest home loan mortgage company.
At the same time Freddie Mac was deceiving investors with false profit reports, Emanuel was its director and he made more than $300,000 in just 14 months. This unlawful activity is the driving reason why our government was forced to bail Freddie Mac out with hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars in 2008.
As chief of staff, Emanuel is Obama's top assistant and has developed a close relationship with the President. The New York Times reported that he played a critical role in the selection of nearly every Obama cabinet and staff member.
In 2006 Rahm appeared on major media outlets to discuss his book The Plan: Big Ideas for America where he advocated mandatory national service.
He also wrote of his desire for a 100,000-person increase in the size of the U.S. army and the creation of another domestic spying agency. Once having dual-citizenship between Israel and the United States, Rahm has strong allegiance to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), arguably the most influential lobbyist group in government.
We currently provide Israel with $3 billion a year in military and economic aid. Rahm's father, Benjamin, was once a member of the Jewish terrorist group Irgun. Irgun, a militant Zionest group that operated in Palestine, wanted to secure Israel's independence by any means necessary. This included deadly hotel bombings and violent massacres of innocent people. One of the biggest reasons why anti-American sentiment is strong in the Middle East is our unyielding economic, political, and military support for Israel.
Philip Zelikow, executive director of the 9/11 Commission, even admitted in a speech at the University of Virginia that the U.S. invaded Iraq to eliminate a threat to Israel. How can we truly count on Rahm Emanuel and President Obama to change the climate of anti-American sentiment in the Middle East while appeasing AIPAC and the state of Israel? Back in January, 2009 Al-Jazeera news hit the streets to gauge Arab opinions of our new president.
